In the 1990's a group of Palmyra citizens formed the Palmyra Park Boosters Club and were dedicated to raising funds for the development of the Palmyra Town Park. Through much hard work and many fundraisers, the committee members and volunteers were able to raise enough money to purchase a play system, benches, and picnic tables; install a basketball court, ice skating rink, and horseshoe pits; construct an outhouse and a parking lot; and much more.
Some of original club officers and volunteers include Donna and Winkie Perkins, Debbie Fletcher, Paulette Robinson, Arlene Batchelder, Juanita Robinson, Eleanor Flood, Priscilla Jones and Cindy Preble.
The Palmyra Park Boosters Club has recently been reactivated and we would like to continue the good work that the original members had started.
In March 2024 the voters at Town Meeting agreed to spend $96,000 on a new play system and an ice-skating rink. The committee members helped to remove the old play system and a new one has been installed (and has become very popular). The ice-skating rink was recently installed.
You will be able to track our progress on this site.
In December, the Somerset County Commissioners awarded the Palmyra Park Boosters Club a matching grant in the amount of $14,000. The money will be used to construct two pickle-ball courts and a basketball half court. The Palmyra Park Boosters Club will use money raised from fundraisers and donations for the rest of the project expenses. Construction should begin by early summer.
The Palmyra Park Boosters Club is currently planning fundraisers for 2025. There will be a hunter’s supper and raffle in November.
Other fundraisers and date of the hunter’s supper to be announced.
