2026 Tax Commitment
Under Maine law, municipal assessors must annually certify to Maine Revenue Services the ratio of assessed value to just value in their municipality. This certified ratio must be used to adjust the value of exemptions. This is part of the process for determining reimbursement from the State. Due to analysis of property sales in Palmyra we had to certify at 75% this year. That is why you will notice a reduction in Homestead and Veterans Exemptions on your tax bill. Also due to budget increases and our decreasing surplus the mil rate went from 9.90 to 11.70 for every $1000 of valuation.
If you have questions concerning your tax bill please contact the Town Office.
